Give Me A C!

C...you got your C, you got your C!

Give me a P!

P...you got...I won't go through the whole thing, but just wanted to ask y'all to pray for little Davey Pooh today because he is taking his FOURTH and FINAL CPA exam this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Two years after we graduated, David decided he wanted to become a CPA. Even though he already had a bachelors in Telecommunications Business Management and Finance, the state requires all this other random stuff and X-amount of Accounting hours to even sit for the exam, so first he had to go back to school. He was working full-time, so for 2.5 years, he took night and weekend classes, along with working two tax seasons. IT. WAS. AWFUL. I don't even know how he did it, but he did, and graduated with a Masters in Accounting. (Can you tell I'm so proud of him?)

The last thing you'd want to do after 4 years of college and 2.5 years of school and full-time work is study for a stupid fat test, but he did. For another 2.5 years, David has studied his little fanny off and taken and passed 3 of the 4 parts of the CPA exam. His advisor told him to prepare to fail at least two sections of the exam the first time around. And he did. By two points. TWO. POINTS. He was livid.

Now, before you get all hissy about what I say next, let me remind you, this is information from the Internet and, as we all know, everything on the Internet is true. The CPA has been deemed the most difficult professional exam in the country. Actually, some folks say it's tied with the PE exam, some say the PE is harder. (The PE is the something that starts with a P Engineering text...I think...it's hard.) Now, I know, I haven't taken any professional exam, so how do I know. I don't. I'm just reading the Internet.

Either way, I'm super proud of David. I know for a fact that I couldn't do it. He's done amazingly well and he's one test away from being done with that thing forever. Well, except now he's decided he wants to get his CFE and C?? and C?? licenses. I'm like, "Uh...why?" He replied, "How cool would it be to see how many initials I can have after my name? Wouldn't that be funny?" Ridiculous. I am so excited that finally he can come home from work and just hang out. He always does that before the girls go to bed, but then it's off to studying. I told him I don't even know what we're going to do with ourselves. Ah...joy!

So, y'all be praying at 4:00 this afternoon. He's taking the Auditing section. Yay. It's a 4.5 hour test. As much as I love Lord of the Rings, it's hard for me to sit through one of them, much less take a test for an even longer time. I would die of boredom. Literally, my head would implode.

Anyways. Good luck, baby!!

...it's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight...

  1. First of all you are right, the internet is full of accurate and correct information. Since I google everything, I should know. And will definitely say a prayer for your hubby. Oh yeah, and here, in the great state of Texas, we give our kids standardized tests that take at least 4 hours. Don't worry though, we wait until they are 8 to start them (said with a lot of sarcasm). Because everyone knows that kids sit well for 4+ hour stretches.

  2. Good luck! And my husband just passed the "professional" engineering test. (that's the P) I have to be biased, though, and argue that the bar was harder than all of them. ;)
