My Two Pumpkins

Oh, Fall, how I adore you. The perfect temperatures, the smell of hay and raw peanuts in the air, the changing leaves, the fun clothes we get to wear, and the delectable fried foods you carry on the wake of your cool, crisp breezes. I like-a the Fall. This has been the most amazing Fall ever...not just because of the saturated fat-drenched funnel cake I had on Saturday, but because now, David and I get to experience the joys of the season with our daughters. And granted, it's not like they're looking around and thinking, "My, what a wondrous time of year. Look at the splendid leaves." But, it's so much fun just to decorate for them and go to festive events for them and just let them enjoy the colors and sounds and smells. Somebody once told me (that sounds like a voiceover for a movie) that you get to have the "magic" of your childhood all over again when you have kids of your own. So very true.

So, this Saturday, we went to the Great Pumpkin Patch with Wes, Audry, and Megan. I kind of expected to see Charlie Brown and Linus, but they weren't there. We still had SUCH a good time. We're definitely going to make that an annual event.

The girls' first reaction wasn't to the pumpkins, but the hay. They weren't too sure about this prickly ground. I couldn't pick my favorite picture because they made such silly faces the whole time, so I'm just uploading them all.

Megan, who recently turned 3, wanted to take a picture with them, but she wouldn't sit by the babies. It was hysterical. She LOVES the girls and kisses them and helps feed them and lets them hold her dolls, but I think sometimes she's a little bit afraid of them. It's okay, Megs, I'm a little bit afraid of them, too. There are two of them and one of me and I think, What if they turn on me? What if they try to overtake me? I'm outnumbered!
Ha haaaa, her face in this one.

There were some inflatables that Megan had a blast in. They had a really tall slide and she wanted to do it, but was a little afraid of climbing up the ladder to get to the top. I gotta admit, I would have been scared, too. That sucker was high! So, Wes climbed it with her. We see them at the top and we turned to talk to each other while they waited their turn to slide down and then, we hear this little girl screaming at the top of her lungs. We turn, thinking it's Megan loving the slide, but nope, it's Wes.

Immediately after this picture, she squealed, "I never want to do that again!" And then trotted away with a giggle.

Megan wanted lunch and Wes went to go get something, but before he left, she proclaimed, "You have to kiss Mommy before you go." Presh.

They had a pony ride, too.

And then we all took a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch and got us some pumpkins!

They also had some stuff for adults. Namely, fried foods. Corn dogs, fried pies, funnel cakes, etc. I had at least one of each. You could have a corn dog and caramel apple any day of the year, but they don't taste near as good as they do in the Fall.

Kids are so much fun. I can't wait for next year!

Oh, Wes.

  1. Those are some precious pumpkins! And now that they're getting a little more toddler-y I can see their differences! So if we knew each other in real life I might be able to tell them apart!

  2. I love the fact that you dressed them alike! So cute! :) Anyway, we're taking Carts to the pumpkin patch next weekend and I can't wait! We had so much fun with Kylie and Audrey Gayle last year and I know it's gonna be super fun now that Carts and Kylie can be more into it. Too bad you don't live closer so you could go again! Love you girlie
